Who's Who of Australian Rock Index
Chris Spencer began compiling the database in the mid eighties and in 1989 published
his first edition of the book version of the Who’s Who of Australian Rock. After
the 3rd edition, Informit produced a cdROM version in 1993, and finally in 2007,
the database is online.
In mid 2007, the database held information about 36,000 artists, 40,000 releases,
66,000 musicians, and 175,000 tracks.
Want To Help?
MediaScan is seeking volunteers to research their local papers or state capital
street press papers to assist with the compilation of the database.
Initially MediaScan can offer free subscriptions to those people who are able to
assist.
If the index gains momentum, MediaScan may be in a position to pay people to index
a greater number of publications.
